Hopefully we can educate people about this virus through this forum and encourage them to be tested. This disease is a silent killer and many people believe that they are invincible and will not catch the disease. I have to few close friends and family members that are positive and one of them is still learning to how to live everyday with this virus. It is important for people to understand that sex is not mandatory to be in a loving relationship and if your partner pressures you into having sex them, be sure that they are tested and always use condoms. Unfortunately, there are many people out there who are positive and care not to admit it and they are spreading this disease like wildfire.

Knowledge is power

Be tested, Be safe and let's educate. :)

i just joined this group and i would like to take my hat off to the people in it. I had a cousin the passed away 2006 From AIDS. She got HIV when she was 15 and lived until she was 27 with the virus. I truly miss her she left behind twins a boy and a girl. I wish we will one day find a cure to this awful killer...

hi everyone so i just joined the group and its kinda sad to see hat we are just 20 of us. Well i joined for all those people who would have loved to have known about it but did not, or did and did b=not have family or friend to support them. I just want to be that one person that makes a difference in some ones life

HIV

Man, I’m tired of hearing about HIV
And how it’s my people that's contracting it
Not through IV’s, but through sexual relations
People if you’re going to have sex
Then make condoms your best friend!
Man, I just don’t get it
Maybe because I’m a virgin
Or maybe I haven’t had my sexual tension released and
Maybe a man hasn’t done a sexual extraction of my inner freak and
Maybe because all I do is love on me and
It’s a shame that 40 million people live with this disease
How can we keep having unprotected sex with ease?
This epidemic has become the disease to end it all
It will be our own down fall if we don’t stall it
From spreading by protecting ourselves and making wise decisions
My heart goes out to the millions of Africans with what feels like a deception by God
They don’t have the money for drugs
Mothers spreading it to their children just because no one tells them about prevention
And their religion keeps them from the right protection
And then there are some dead beat men
That go from house to house without telling their spouse about their status
How can we keep having this happen over and over again?
It’s no longer the gay man’s disease with most people being infected are African American women ages 18-24
Please educate yourselves and not live in ignorance anymore
Stop being naive and living with the thought pattern that this disease will skip me
Before your T-Cells will have disappeared like you can’t see me
But I have to get off the topic of sex for a minute
And acknowledge the women that have no choice but to pass it
Like mothers living in poverty
Where the only food they can give their newborn is breast milk
So they ingest it into their children
HIV will continue to cause misery if we don’t do something
My advice to you is don’t be afraid to talk about it
Protect yourself and get tested
Raise money and support research
Cause the cure is underway, but the best cure is to not get in the first place
And most importantly educate yourselves and each other
Because with education comes power!

Get Involved, Get The Facts, Get Tested....I never thought that the statistics was so true, but because I have personally seen people and met people within the last 8 years of me entering the gay lifestyle, I have seen people pass not knowing they had this disease or knew they had the disease but didn't want to live knowing they had the disease, the statistics are true people, the disease is real we must come together and educate people. I am completely appalled at the small response to this group...
The education of this disease is very much needed, and not only this disease but there is a sweeping rise of infections of syphilis among gay men and herpes and other STDs amongst teenagers...

I am missing my Uncle Harrell. He died of Aids in the Nineties. he had recieved it during a blood transfusion in the eighties before the testing was modified.

I am suprised how small the number is in this group though.....
